- Resource Center | Oilskimmers
A resource center for oil skimmers serves as a hub for information, tools, and equipment related to oil spill cleanup and recovery. It provides access to various oil skimming technologies, such as floating drum or disc skimmers, along with training, maintenance, and support services to ensure effective spill management in industrial and environmental settings. Oil An oil is any nonpolar chemical substance that is composed primarily of hydrocarbons and is both hydrophobic (does not mix with water, literally "water fearing") and lipophilic (mixes with other oils, literally "fat loving"). Oils are usually flammable and surface active. Most oils are unsaturated lipids that are liquid at room temperature. The general definition of oil includes classes of chemical compounds that may be otherwise unrelated in structure, properties, and uses. Oils may be animal, vegetable, or petrochemical in origin, and may be volatile or non-volatile. They are used for food (e.g., olive oil), fuel (e.g., heating oil), medical purposes (e.g., mineral oil), lubrication (e.g. motor oil), and the manufacture of many types of paints, plastics, and other materials. Specially prepared oils are used in some religious ceremonies and rituals as purifying agents. Whenever there is a breach in the hull of the ship or an accident aboard, the ship leaks oil on the water's surface. This can be near the coast or deep into the ocean. In such cases, floating drum, weir and funnel skimmers are used to remove the oil from the surface. Value: Marine life is less affected by oil spills. Oil Skimmers here are priceless. Many oil skimmer manufacturers including our own, Vens Hydroluft offer these skimmers for extremely subsidised prices to the government to treat major spills
