Belt, disc, tube or drum: choosing the right oil skimmer
Belt skimmers lower a continuous oleophilic belt into the tank. They handle deep sumps and changing liquid levels well and suit coolant tanks, wash systems and pits. Mega and triple belt versions lift large volumes.
Disc skimmers use a rotating disc that dips into the oil layer. They are compact and give high recovery rates on stable levels. Grooved multi-disc units increase the contact surface for heavier duty.
Tube skimmers drag a flexible oleophilic tube across the surface, so the oil is collected over a wide area and from tanks with obstructions. Floating drum, funnel and suction skimmers ride on the surface, which makes them the choice for lagoons, API separators and storage tanks where the level varies.
For very viscous oils, rope mop skimmers work best. If you are unsure, send the tank size, oil type and temperature to our experts and Vens Hydroluft will recommend a model, including custom builds.
