What Are Chain Oil Skimmers?
Vens Hydroluft's chain oil skimmers are built for the most demanding industrial conditions where high temperatures, heavy oils, and aggressive chemicals make other skimmer types impractical. A stainless steel chain loop passes through the oil-contaminated fluid, collecting heavy oils and greases that would overwhelm polymer-based skimmers. Made in Canada to ISO 9001 standards, chain skimmers are the ultimate solution for steel mills, foundries, and heavy manufacturing.
How Chain Skimmers Handle Extreme Conditions
Unlike belt or tube skimmers that use polymer or elastomer materials, chain skimmers use stainless steel chain links that withstand temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Celsius and resist chemical attack from caustic solutions, acids, and aggressive coolants. The chain links collect heavy oils through adhesion as they pass through the fluid, then travel through scraper blades that strip the oil into a collection trough. This makes chain skimmers ideal for quench tanks, die casting operations, and hot forging applications.
Applications and Related Solutions
Chain oil skimmers serve steel mills, aluminum smelters, foundries, heat treatment facilities, die casting plants, and chemical processing operations. For lighter oils and moderate temperatures, consider Vens Hydroluft's belt oil skimmers or tube skimmers. For oil-water separation after skimming, our oil water separators and coalescer systems provide additional treatment. Watch chain skimmers in action on our YouTube channel.
